Type of Event:

Bicentennial recreation of the Battle, Period encampment, ceremonial presentations,, skirmish in the village, Sound & Light Show, expect 1500 reenactors & 20,000 spectators

 

Who is invited:

All Napoleonic era French or Prussian units, Infantry, Cavalry, and Artillery.

 

Cavalry Friendly?

Yes Cavalry are invited.  NB you will need to arrange for your own rental horse & kit.

 

Family Friendly?

Children and spouses  will be welcome – period dress required.

 

Description:

Set up camp Friday, June 12 and Saturday, June 13th before noon.

Saturday, June 13 pm , demonstration, Drill for all regiments and Officers to study battlefield skirmishes, call to arms, etc ...

June 14 , major Battle in the morning and parade through the village of Ligny .

June 15 memorial ceremony .

June 16 , troops depart for Waterloo.

From June 12 to 16 , there is also a sound and light show every evening on the Place de Ligny , unique because it will be in 3D.

We expect 20,000 people , the museum and entertainment center to General Gerard will also present ... (movies, exhibitions ,etc)

Food:

Bring your eating utensils, plate, bowl, and mug.  The Europeans will have the cooking equipment, and will share their food with you at a modest priceÉ or eat in the local resaurants and food vendors.

 

Accommodations:

Period tents, build your own abris, or try to reserve nearby B&BŐs or motels,

 

Straw, Water, Wood:

Firewood provided, potable water, straw bales, bathrooms, water for horses, food vendors

 

Weapons, Powder, etc.:

Bring musket and papers for rolling  100 cartridges, Black powder will be supplied. We will cross Sabres and Bayonets as safely as possible.

 

Entertainment:

Evening tavern, sound & light shows, etc

Closest Airport:

I suggest you fly into Paris rather then Brussels because the French do not restrict muskets.

Fees or Stipends:

They are negotiating with the political authorities for funding, we hope to be able to give a travel allowance or defray some of the cost for food
